There is a tropical wave moving into the gulf that might form into a tropical storm before it lands in Texas. Which is where they are expecting it to go. I hope it does go to Texas because we really need the rain. Hopefully it doesn't grow into a hurricane because hurricanes bring pain not rain. What we need is a weak tropical storm or depression like tropical storm Allison. It was a weak tropical storm but, it brought alot of rain. Either way it looks like we are going to get some rain from it. Yay! I can't wait.

Good News For Houston!
This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Houston is going to have a 50 to 60 percent chance for rain. I'm not sure why though maybe a low pressure systems is coming. Maybe from the gulf. Also the temperatures are going to be cooler. So, it might be from a cold front. Either way i'm glad. Houston really needs the rain. We've only had .08 inches of rain this August in my area. That's way below normal and were already in a extreme drought. Plus it's been over a 100 this week. Hopefully things will turn around in September. I'm really looking forward to the rain and cooler temperatures.

Tricky Storm!
The storm took a quick dive to the south right before it got close to where I live. As usual. Every time I see a storm coming towards my house it quickly evaporates or changes direction. I wish the storms would stop trying to avoid us.
We Did Get Some Rain!
We finally got some rain in my area. It was only a couple of showers though. The big storm that was right above us took a quick dive to the west and avoided us so, we missed all of the heavy rain. Even though we missed out on the big storm i'm glad we got some rain in my area. July 31 was the last time we got any rain. I think we're gonna run out of water if we have another dry year. I hope we don't have another dry year.

Hurricane Irene In Troy!?
I just looked at the projected path of hurricane Irene and it looks like it is going to go through Troy, NY where my sister Julia is. Troy, NY has been getting alot of rain lately (unlike here in Houston) and hurricane Irene is expected to bring even more. That's not good. Hopefully if Irene moves away quickly it won't have enough time to cause Troy's streets to flood. Also they think Irene is still going to be a category 1 hurricane when it goes through the state of NY so, they might also have some power outages. My sister Julia lives in a 1800's apartment so, I don't think she'll have to worry about the flooding but, she might have to worry about the wind knocking her power out. I hope her apartment has generators. I remember having to wait three weeks for our power to come back on after we had hurricane Ike. There was nothing to do but, listen to the radio. Maybe Irene will move more to the east and miss Troy. I guess will just have to wait and see.

What Is A Thunderstorm?!
I get really confused every time I see thunderstorm's on the Weather Channel. It's been so, hot and dry here in Houston that I have forgotten what thunderstorm's look like. Alot of the plants around my house are turning yellow and the leaves make a crunch sound every time touch them. I think i'm going to have to start growing cactus's around my house. I would like to say I hope we get some rain like I always do but, I don't think we ever will. We'll not until this summer ends. The heat keeps on destroying the thunderstorm's. Every time they form they quickly evaporate. Hopefully we'll get some rain in the fall when the temperatures are cooler.
This is a video I took last year sometime in July or August of my brother's cat playing with a locust. Notice how green the plants are compared to the ones in the video below.

Dew Points!
During this year's heat wave I learned something new about the heat index that I didn't know before. I had always thought that the high humidity levels were the major cause of the high heat indexes but, on this past Tuesday when the heat index was 108 degrees. I noticed that the humidity levels weren't that high and the dew point levels were. The humidity level was 46% and the dew point level was 70. So I learned that the high dew point levels were the cause of the high heat indexes not the humidity levels. Although they can still help to rise the heat index though. So, that means that having a chance for rain like we did on Tuesday is not necessarily a good thing because if we don't get the rain and we get really high dew point levels then it could make it seem a lot hotter outside. Which isn't good for a city like Houston that already gets hot temperatures during the summer months. I'm glad that we've been getting some rain though.
More Heat and Less Rain During a Drought!
Not only is it hot and dry during a drought but, the dry land actually makes it hotter because there is no moisture to absorb the sun rays and that makes it hotter for the areas like us that are in a drought. Also the drought makes it harder for the storms to form because of the dry land. I hope our drought has been getting better. We've been getting some rain this past month and we might get some more rain later this week from tropical storm Arlene. Arlene is not expected to hit us but, it might bring us some rain though. We are only going to get a 30 percent chance for rain from it but, if it comes a little closer to us maybe we can get a better chance for some rain from it. I know we've had over 2 inches of rain this month but, that's still below average for the month of June and we're already in a drought. I am glad that we finally got some rain though. If you want to know about how the drought causes it to get hotter go to weather.com and search for a video called "dry ground equals hotter air".

It's Too Hot!
I just checked the extended forecast on the weather channel and it says that we're going to have a high temperature of 108 degrees on Saturday. This heat wave is starting to affect my body. I can no longer take my 20 minute walk outside. Every time I go outside my throat starts to hurt and I have to go back inside. I remember complaining in the beginning of February when the temperatures were below freezing. I'd rather have the temperatures below freezing with the heater on than the temperatures above 100 with the air conditioner about to break. Another bad thing about this heat is that it keeps destroying all the thunderstorms. I always see them coming straight for my house and then right before they get to my house they evaporate. I would hope for a tropical storm to come but, that would probably evaporate too. Like what happened with Don. It looks like we're going to have to wait until fall comes before we get can any rain in Houston.

Just Weather!
Hey, I've just made this blog that will only be used to talk about the weather in Houston or just the weather in general. I'll be making posts about what's going on with the weather in Houston and everywhere else but, mostly Houston though since I live there. I wish I could live somewhere where they have more interesting weather. Houston's weather has been boring lately. I hope you enjoy my new blog.
