The day was mostly cloudy, warm, and wet. The sky looked to be mostly cloudy, during the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. It felt warm, during the morning, afternoon, and early evening. It started to feel a little cool, during the late evening. It felt a little cool, during the early night. It felt cool, during the late night. The wind speeds looked to be light with moderate and moderately strong gusts with some occasional strong gusts around 20 mph, during the morning, afternoon, evening, and the possibly the night before the wind speeds were calming down. There was a 50 to a 100 percent chance for rain for the Houston, TX area, during the morning. And maybe a 10, or 20 percent chance of rain for the rest of the day and possibly the night. I only remember seeing rain on the Houston, TX radar, during the early and possibly the mid-morning. Heavy rain and lightning struck at the house where I live, during the early morning before sunrise.
Thoughts: Apart from a few cloud to ground lightning strikes and loud rumbles of thunder it was just a regular old thunder storm to me. Was going to give it a 2 out of 5. Only will have to be a 3 out of 5 since it did spawn an F-1 tornado which destroyed a Firestone building in the Katy, TX area that has been around for probably decades and I have even passed by it a few times. So truly shocking and memorable as we don’t get tornadoes really in Houston. Let alone tornadoes that destroy buildings like they do in the mud-west.
Locations: Copperfield, Montrose, Northwest, and West Houston, TX.
