000 FXUS64 KHGX 090457 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 1157 PM CDT Tue May 8 2018 .AVIATION [06Z TAF Issuance]... 06Z forecast is essentially a continuation of the previous forecast, with tweaks in the first hours to align with observations and extended for winds becoming lighter tomorrow evening. While observations remain at 10 miles at all terminals, satellite fog imagery does show some fog cropping up along the coast and just west of CLL. So, continue with a brief period of MVFR at CXO and LBX, with some MIFG at College Station. Otherwise VFR across the area, with winds picking up again for tomorrow afternoon before weakening again tomorrow night. Luchs && .PREV DISCUSSION /Issued 856 PM CDT Tue May 8 2018/... .UPDATE... The forecast tonight looks on track with only some minor adjustments for ongoing trends. Winds should continue to decrease and decouple allowing for better radiational cooling. Satellite imagery still shows some high cirrus moving across the area but cloud cover should not be enough to affect cooling. Moisture should recover overnight from day time mixing which may allow for some patchy fog mainly to the west and southwest of Houston for Wednesday morning. Overpeck && .PREV DISCUSSION /Issued 607 PM CDT Tue May 8 2018/... .AVIATION... Not much change in the weather setup - southerly winds should become light and variable tonight, with only high clouds as far as ceilings are concerned. Fog looks to crop up again tonight, but again mostly to the west/southwest of the terminals. Have MVFR fog at CXO and LBX, with some MIFG at SGL. If there`s a bit more of a push by fog towards the terminals, LBX and SGL may be too optimistic a forecast right now. Expect tomorrow to show little change again.
