000 FXUS64 KHGX 042327 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 527 PM CST Thu Mar 4 2021 .AVIATION... VFR this evening with mainly light onshore winds. Increased low level moisture will help with the development of mainly MVFR ceilings early tomorrow morning. Should see some SHRA development during the day tomorrow ahead of the next cold front and its associated northwest wind shift that will move into the area in the afternoon and off the coast in the evening. Might end up having to deal with some wrap around MVFR ceilings into tomorrow night and Saturday morning. 42 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 412 PM CST Thu Mar 4 2021/ SHORT TERM [Tonight Through Tomorrow/Friday Night]... Another quiet night expected for SE TX for the most part. Light to moderate onshore winds have helped to warm temperatures this after- noon and with the flow persisting, low-level moisture will also be on the increase tonight. This moderate/strong WAA should produce a bit more low clouds than patchy fog overnight through sunrise...as well as some very isolated showers/drizzle near the coast. Lows to- night will range from the upper 40s far north/inland into the mid/ upper 50s at the coast. Rain chances are still on tap for tomorrow with the passage of the next cold front. Models remain in decent agreement with the timing of this line...into the Brazos Valley just after noon then off the coast just before sunset. POPs will likely be highest along/just a- head of the line but given the very limited instability, only just isolated thunderstorm chances for eastern/inland locations. Colder air should arrive by the evening hours as the upper low moves down enough to the SE. 41 LONG TERM [Saturday through Sunday]... A pleasant weekend is ahead! In the wake of the cold front, ridge aloft settles in, leaving us with northwest cooler winds, mostly clear skies and light winds. Highs will generally be in the mid to upper 60s by Saturday and slightly warmer on Sunday with readings reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. A weak upper trough tracks southeastward across central/east TX Sunday night into Monday. Other than a few clouds, no precipitation is anticipated during this period given strong subsidence and limited low to mid-level moisture. The remainder of the extended period looks relatively dry but turning warmer and more humid. As the surface high pressure shifts east of the region, southerly flow will dominate weather conditions through much of the week. A gradual warm up is expected after Tuesday with temperatures reaching the upper 70s to near 80. Summer weather is around the corner as dewpoints reach the upper 60s by Wednesday and Thursday. With persistent WAA and low-level Gulf moisture, a few showers cannot be rule out Wednesday and Thursday. 05 MARINE... High pressure to our east will continue to bring light to moderate south-southeast flow tonight and Friday. Patchy sea fog, some locally dense at times will be possible tonight into early Friday ahead of the next cold front. The front will move through the Gulf waters by Friday evening, bringing isolated showers along and ahead of the front. Gusty northwest winds are expected in the wake of the front, with Small Craft Advisory levels possible. Light to moderate onshore flow returns Sunday night and will persist through the week with relatively dry conditions prevailing. 05 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
