Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
807 PM CST Tue Feb 27 2018

.NEAR TERM [Through Tonight]...

Warm air advection pattern will continue tonight into Wednesday.
Southerly winds tonight with dewpoints in the upper 60s should
keep temperatures rather steady in the low 70s. A few spots could
hit upper 60s for overnight low temperatures in more rural areas
where winds might decouple briefly. Rain chances look to be on the
low side tonight with the bulk of any precipitation occurring NW
of the area over central and north Texas.

Overall not many changes to the forecast tonight except to keep
up with ongoing temperature trends. Forecast looks on track with a
warm day tomorrow and the cold front pushing through Thursday
morning with a wind shield wiper line of showers.

.AVIATION...
Obs are indicating a couple sites are showing some scattering, but
satellite shows that this should be short-lived, and ceilings in
general should drop through MVFR this evening to IFR late tonight.
GLS will have to watch for the development of sea fog, though it
may be intermittent due to a fetch that isn`t quite optimal for
dense fog. Other than GLS - which should remain with pretty poor
conditions through the day - we should see improvement to MVFR or
even a short afternoon window of VFR north of the Houston metro.
Some showers may manage to spring up, but not enough confidence to
include them in the forecast at this time. However, as the
extended period at IAH shows, look for flight conditions to
degrade again tomorrow night. Fully expect the other sites to
follow in later forecast cycles.
