Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
747 PM CST Sun Mar 4 2018

.UPDATE...
For the most part, the forecast is pretty on track - have slightly
cut PoPs to better reflect radar trends, but it`s not a big
change. Temperatures are looking pretty good, and hold with
cosmetic tweaks to better match this evening`s cooling trend.

Do leave isolated thunder in for the rest of this evening, but
since the general trend in convective activity is down, transition
to showers for the rest of the night. There had been a couple
good looking elevated thunderstorms out west, but they fizzled as
they approached the area. Still, it was fun to watch them moving
northeast with the flow aloft above the boundary layer showers
moving northerly (if GIFs were allowed in AFDs, this is where
SimpsonsNERRRD.gif would go). At this time a couple cells over
Lavaca and Gonzales counties just west of us that have produced a
cloud flash each and one CG strike, though they are a bit old.

AVIATION...
Scattered showers are starting to spread over the area this
afternoon. Although unlikely, can`t rule out an isolated
thunderstorm or two as well. MVFR ceilings with perhaps an hour or
two of IFR are expected overnight tonight. Showers will develop
again in the morning, followed by scattered thunderstorms in the
afternoon. A cold front will approach the region at the tail end
of the taf period, making it through KCLL and KUTS probably an
hour or two before 00Z. 11
