Area Forecast Discussion

.AVIATION [00Z TAF Issuance]...

VFR conditions setting in at most of the TAF sites. As the cool
front moves across the CWA, drier air will set in with some fog
still setting in along the coastal sites, with some in the Galveston
Bay area as well. At this time, HOU is not looking to be effected
with the northerly flow. Timing will be the deciding factor of fog
development. If the inversion does not set prior to the front
getting to a site, it will be doubtful any will form. 35

.PREV DISCUSSION /Issued 336 PM CST Tue Nov 10 2020/...

.SHORT TERM [Through Wednesday Night]...
Warm conditions in the 80s this afternoon with 2pm observations
within a few degrees of records around the metro area. A cool
front will be moving through the region overnight. Can`t rule out
a very isolated shower into the evening, but vast majority of the
area will be dry. Dewpoints will be falling into the 40s and 50s
inland, but linger in the 60s at the coast thru much of the period.
Decreasing cloudiness, fairly light winds and dry atmosphere
should allow temps to climb to around 80 on Wed...though RH`s will
be lower than today. 47

.LONG TERM [Thursday Through Tuesday]...
Dry/quiet weather is forecast to prevail across SE TX Weds night on
through the end of the week. A weak backdoor cold front on Fri will
help to keep things quiet, but we could see changes by the weekend.
A strong embedded shortwave (likely riding in from the west via the
southern stream jet) and the rapid exit of the surface high further
east will allow for the return of deeper SE winds and Gulf moisture
by Sat. As this disturbance moves closer, WAA-type showers could de-
velop over the coastal waters/counties overnight Sat into early Sun
morning. Global models remain somewhat divided with what this upper
low/disturbance does next. GFS is still keeping this low out west..
but now we are seeing the Canadian follow more along with the ECMWF
with the 12Z runs. As such, our best POPs could be Sun/Sun night as
the shortwave helps to drag the next cold front across SE TX. Cool/
dry weather should return through the start of next week. 41

.MARINE...
Will be on the lookout for some patchy sea fog this evening
near/off the Galveston coast where dewpoints are sitting right
around water temps. Winds should be shifting to the north later
tonight as a weak frontal boundary pushes into the waters. Still
seeing a 2-5ft swell associated with Eta in the upper Tx coastal
waters and anticipate this to persist for another couple days.
Otherwise, look for onshore winds to resume Friday ahead of the
next front sometime Sunday or early Monday. 47
