Aug. 26 17


Northwest Houston, TX, during the early night.


Summary: The day was wet, cloudy, and windy. Moderate to moderately heavy and heavy bands of rain continued to pass through the Houston, TX area, during the morning, afternoon, and early evening. Heavy to very heavy rain bands started to pass through the Houston, TX, area, during the late evening and continued on through the night. The sky looked to be covered in stratus and stratocumulus clouds with some, or maybe more than some nimbus clouds, during the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. The wind speeds looked to be looked to be calm with moderate to moderately strong gusts with some occasional really strong gusts (20-30 mph, maybe some 40+ mph.) It felt warm, during the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. There was still a Tropical Storm Warning, along with several tornado warnings and tornado watches, for the Houston, TX area. There were also many flood advisories, warnings, statements, and watches issued with other weather statements and a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for the Houston, TX area. The low temps looked to be in the 70's with maybe some highs in the 80's, for the Houston, TX area.


Saturday Aug. 26 17 9:00AM: Day Two. Moderate to moderately heavy, and heavy rain bands with lightning and thunder passed through and is continuing to pass through the Houston, TX area, from around 12AM. There have been reports of minor flash flooding and full bayous. I haven’t heard anything about any new storm damages. The wind gusts looked to be around 20 to 30 mph with some possible 40+ mph gusts, early this morning, before sunrise, then becoming calm with some occasional 20 to 30 mph gusts, during the rest of the early morning, after sunrise and during the mid-morning.

Saturday Aug. 26 17 1:30PM: Day Two. Off and on moderate to moderately heavy to heavy showers and thunderstorms continue to pass over my house and the Houston, TX area. The 20 to 30 mph with maybe some occasional 40+ mph wind gusts have become more sparse, but are still occurring. More reports of flooding on freeways, roads, and highways in and around the Houston, TX area. There is no flooding occurring at my house, currently. I haven’t seen, or heard about any new storm damages.


Saturday Aug. 26 17 10:30PM: Day Two. More off and on moderately heavy to heavy rain fell through the afternoon and early evening, before a very heavy rain band moved through my house and the Houston, TX area, during the late evening and early night. There were tornadoes reported in the Cypress, TX area, near my house. There was some damage to buildings, fences, and trees, from the tornadoes. Flooding has now spread through most of the roads, freeways, highways, and neighborhoods in and around the Houston, TX area. There is still more rain to come.

Thoughts: Too much rain is falling in and around the Houston, TX area. I hope it ends soon.
