Winds decouple overnight and increase from NNW tomorrow. Overpeck && .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 345 PM CDT Mon Sep 11 2017/ DISCUSSION... With the upper ridge to the west and Irma moving further inland to our east, the deep northerly flow that has been in place will con- tinue across the region the next couple of days. Will keep max/min temps around persistence given this persistent pattern. Otherwise, not too many changes until maybe Wed night/Thur when onshore winds return as surface pressures fall to the west and rise to the east. This return flow is progged to remain light through the end of the week as RH levels/temperatures slowly climb. While some of the low level moisture will likely mix out during the afternoons on Thurs/ Fri, there could be enough by Sat for an isolated SHRA or two near the coast. Strengthening onshore winds over SE TX this weekend (in response to this next upper trof moving across the Central Plains) will make for much more noticeable low-level moisture around these parts. This along with high temps in the low (to possibly mid) 90s (as the upper ridge builds over the region) will bring summer back to SE TX through perhaps the first half of next week. Also of note this continued dry forecast cycle does seem to highlight this pro- longed lack of rain since those wet wet days of Harvey. 41 MARINE... Swells have moved into the Upper Texas coastal waters into the mid afternoon period: Buoy 42035, about 20 nm east of Galveston, had 4 foot seas with a period of 13 seconds; while buoy 42019, about 60 nm south of Freeport, had seas of 7 feet with a period of 10 seconds. The WNAwave model showed better impacts from the swells to the south of Matagorda today and tonight. However, the current swells occurring at both of the aforementioned buoys should peak during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Should see these diminishing overnight tonight and Tuesday morning. Tide levels at the Galveston Bay entrance did reach 3 feet above the mean lower low water levels early today and can expect these to occur once again tonight. The model continues to keep the possibility of 3 feet through Thursday evening. Main impacts around the time of high tide this evening will be the possibility of wave runup and moderate to strong rip currents this evening with the increased swells. Don`t think the rip current impact will be as strong as what would be needed for a statement but will continue to monitor the Galveston Beach Patrol for updates. Even with the tide levels remaining nearly steady Tuesday night through Thursday, diminishing swells should lead to diminished impact. Kept the Small Craft Advisory for the offshore waters through this evening due mainly to the seas. Improving conditions are expected Tuesday through the mid-week period. Light to occasionally moderate offshore flow will gradually become onshore by Thursday and continuing into the weekend. 40 FIRE WEATHER... Conditions continued to dry across Southeast Texas, especially short- term fuels. Relative humidity values drop to 30 to 35 percent over many inland areas this afternoon, Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon. Although rainfall from Harvey ended just two weeks ago, the dry northerly winds of the past week and a half has help dry out the short term fuels. Onshore winds should help alleviate the situation with moisture return from off of the Gulf of Mexico by Thursday. Until them, elevated fire weather conditions will be possible each afternoon. 40 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
